Relative calm returns to the streets of Baghdad – 31 Mar 08

People in Baghdad have been told it’s safe to venture out into the streets, but already witnesses report hearing rocket fire in the Green Zone.

A key adviser to Nuri al-Maliki, Iraq’s prime minister, says most of the southern city of Basra is back under control, but he said military operations will continue there for now.
